.300RUM velocity

What can you expect with a long throat, 30" barrel, Retumbo, R33, etc. using a Berger 230 gr.?
Just would like to get an idea of the possibilities. Thanks
Bill

I have a 26" Pac-Nor 1-10 and shoot the 200 grain Accubond. With 96.0grs of Retumbo I am getting 3225f.p.s. My guess is that you would be comfortably above 3100 f.p.s. with a 30" barrel..

What overall length you running with the 200 Accubond?

I would have to go look in my notes (after I find them) BUT I have a MAGNUM length Sako action and the cases fit into the mag-well with 10K spare room before they would scrape the inside. The Accubonds sit WELL BELOW the neck / shoulder junction. If you need me to go get my notes, I will..

I have a bartlein 30" 1-10 on my defiance and I am getting 3020 fps seated long and bellow maximum listed loads in my hornady book. I am using norma brass H1000 and berger 230 hybrids. Brass has zero pressure signs and already has 3 reloads on them and the primer pockets are still as tight as the first time I seated primers in them. On a side note I am running a suppressor which gives me a small velocity boost over shooting no can.

ShootDots No need to measure OAL. I was just wondering if you were seating to a very long OAL like some of the .338 Edge loads. You could not be since you are magazine length. Thanks. Bill

I am getting 3000 fps with the 230 out of my 26" barrel with 93 gr. of Retumbo. I have been distracted by the 195 EOL bullet for the last few months or I would have given Re-33 a try. It worked great in my 338 RUM with the 300 gr bullets, less pressure and more velocity with the same charge weight. I would think 3000 fps is a realistic speed without ruining brass.

30" with the right set up coating the 230's I have gotten up too 3250 fps. They would foul the barrel fast though have too clean after 15-20 shots. slowed them down too 3150 and it was more stable and still shot just as well. I ended up liking the 208 amax better though. I ran those coated at 3335fps and even shot them in a match once.
