Looking for ideas for a new 300 yard benchrest rifle for next season. I'm not concerned about the type of action but the chambering and why. Groups are king,.. let's here your ideas.
No,...Weight not a concern?
I have a bunch or 64gr, 65gr and 68gr bullets so with that selection would you go 14 twist?I’d say that a 268 neck is more common these days. Turning necks is nice at that dmebsion because you can get away with one smooth pass. You won’t be shooting either if the latter two you mentioned. Most precision gunsmith will have a house reamer, or you could get your own. 65 to 68 grain bullets are your friends.
That will work fine. A lot of guys are running 13.5 twist these days. Either works. I haven’t really seen a difference.I have a bunch or 64gr, 65gr and 68gr bullets so with that selection would you go 14 twist?
Wait.....Easy.....6PPC.... History......Experience
You are correct. 2 out of the top 3 shooting 6PPC. I think the 6 is the answer regardless of which one.Its the shooter not the cartridge, If Bart had picked the PPC it would have been 3 0ut of 3.I believe Bart won the 2021 Tackdriver with a BRA and 103’s.
