Trying find a starting load using 555 in a 300 WSM with 215’s Berger

I had one build for 1K benchrest and I'm in the process of load development, I haven't tried VV555 yet but I started with 59.5 grains of H4350 and Berger 215 Hybrids fireforming ADG brass, looks like there might be something in the 59-61 grain range jumping 10 thou.

Worked up a few loads I’m at 2860 at 64.0 with no signs of pressure and single digits on ES and SD. Tomorrow I’m going to bump it up and see what it looks like at around 2880.

That's a similar powder charge to where RL23 switches on the 300wsm.

From what I’m understanding they’re not producing any RL powder at this time and at 469.00 and 499.00 on sale the distributor’s can keep it. I try not to buy from distributors who I believe are taking advantage of people.

Ok with 64.4 of VV 555 my average was 2870 ES & SD were 6/8 with Norma brass. Neck tension was about 2k. I was using culled bullets that didn’t make the cut just to get my velocity where they needed to be. I shot five rounds of old ammo to warn up the barrel. I let the barrel set for a couple of minutes and shot this group. The first shot was the high right then the next four. I also tried 64.6 no pressure but a got a horizontal group and ES&SD were not good. I will play with the seating depth next then the tuner. I think it should tighten up.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming this is a 100 yd target, I have zero experience with 300wsm and trying to learn, are you looking for a one hole 3 shot group at 100 and less than .5" at 300 before you take it out to 600-1k ?
Is it a benchrest gun or a hunting rifle ?

Yes sir correct seating depth test next then tuner at 600 and then 1000
