What stock, bottom metal and brand of barrel did you go with? And what was the weight of it bare rifle?

I tried to build one gun for steel and hunting but seems it always ended up to heavy for hunting but great on steel so I went the two gun route. I have a 300 rum for steel, long and heavy. For my do all hunting gun I went 300 wsm on a Pierce Ti action, proof carbon barrel and McMillan light fill stock. Gun is 6.5 pounds with scope base and nf ultralight rings only and 8.7 with a heavy nf on it. It balances nicely and I enjoy carrying it. I plan to get a lighter scope when I can. Also, remember that small velocity changes make no difference on game animals. Accuracy, bullet placement, and bullet choice are most important. If you want to see more effect on animals you need a larger caliber, i.e. 338.
