300 Win Mag reloading help

So, it has consistently shot poorly since sighting in?
How heavy is the trigger pull? Is it adjustable / same as your .270?

Have you tried contacting Howa?
It has consistently shot the same poor groupings from the first shot til now.

Trigger is right at 2lbs the exact same as my 270 trigger, in fact I took off my 270 trigger and put it on my 300 and it changed nothing (they are both the exact same Howa HACT trigger).

I contacted the Howa rep for my country and he looked at it and determined that it was the scope and gave me a replacement but even after trying many different scopes after this nothing has changed. I gave him ammo with it and he never even fired a shot through it. It was terrible customer service tbh.

Let me know what you have on hand bullets and powder wise, and we'll try to narrow down accuracy nodes
Basically all I have is a Lee Loader, 400 rounds of these, a bullet puller, a Hornady G3 scales and a few other small reloading bits.

Bullets, powder primers and brass cant be got in my country and 300 win mag ammo is near impossible to get to. So I was very lucky to get that ammo in such a quantity as well.

Change Barrels, get a Criterion prefit and start smiling, I have one in 300 wm and it shoots great .3 to .6 when I'm not flinching

Somehow I missed that it was bedded, sorry about that.
My experience with Hornandy 300WM ammo hasn't been good I know you dont wanna hear it ,But.
Have you chronograph any rounds?
Last time I tried any Hornady factory 180 ammo in a 300 WM the E.S was 100fps

He’s needing to use these components he has, looking to maximize their potential.

I’m journeying back in time 15 years ago, when I didn’t reload quite yet but I did want to maximize the accuracy of Hornady A-Max bullets from Savage single shot rifles.

What I would sometimes do is clean the barrel, then patch it with light gun oil, as if I were putting it away for months. Not dripping wet mind you, just enough to constitute a light, thin film through the barrel, end to end.

It’s going to smell odd when shot, but your group size will be cut in half, only because it is so big, presently. This won’t shrink groups that are already maximized, but it will change groups dramatically for the better where bullets and the gun don’t like each other.

I shoot 300 Win Mag myself.

I am waiting for my cheap chrono to come, I hope it gets through customs but it should be here next week.

As for other ammo, I tried federal 180 grain soft points, they done a little better but still nothing great, other ammo cant be got here unfortunately. ohh wait no, I shot Hornady superformance 180 grains and they were ALL OVER THE PLACE. The local store had one box of those left. Man they were terrible.

yes this is exactly what I need to do. Hmm I might just give this a go.

Are you shooting suppressed?

As I stated before: Try playing with the barrel harmonics.

we don't have access to primers or powder here. As I said in the post I can get a Lee Loader
Apologies, I obviously read like my …

What dies do you have (access to?). Only thing you can do with the raw materials at hand is what you planned- pull bullets, play with powder load. If you have/can get dies that can size the necks, as well as a mandrel set, you can play with neck tension and seating depth too. Good luck- the Howas typically shoot good right out the box, have one in 6.5 CM and it shoots bug holes with a wide variety of ammo/loads. My 300WM is a Voere though, and it is more difficult to get the right combo with it. 190gr Hornady flat base bullets have given me the best results so far.

One other thing- from personal experience with my 6.5x55 Steyr hunting rifle (thin barrel)- that rifle almost went to the scrap heap die to its extreme sensitivity of anything on the barrel. Used to use a Magnetospeed to measure velocity, and that rifle literally had a foot or more poi change with/without the magneto fixed to the barrel. Have you checked/removed the brake on yours and see if there is any change?

I could possibly buy a lee single stage press and dies if need be. but I'd have to travel for them.

Barking up the wrong tree I think. Changing the load may take you from .75 MOA to .5 MOA, but not from 3MOA to .5MOA. Scope loose, rings loose, bad barrel. Just because its new doesn't mean it any good. Its a production rifle get the bore scoped. That will tell you if it has a poor barrel or is fouled to the point of not being able to shoot. Figure out the problem before you start to fix things that aren't the problem.
