300 Win Mag Chamber Reamer for Heavy ELDs?

Still not seeing the "Chris Kyle Reamer" being an appropriate name. I think his last deployment was 2008 and he was shooting a .338 Lapua. Don't think they did the work for MK 248 Mod 1 until 2009.
go read the book.
his favorite rifle was a 300 win mag mk 13 with an 8-32x scope....
that chamber and the navy mk13 reamer are not the same

I read the book, don't think you're tracking here.

Let me make it clear here, what makes it a "Chris Kyle Reamer"? Did he design it? Did he endorse such a reamer from PT&G? They are profiting off name recognition. Nothing about that reamer is unique to him. It was the reamer Crane selected. No less, no more.

Curious- why would you want a tighter neck for a hunting rifle, that will (eventually) be shooting factory ammo? SAAMI is .3407, so why is that seven tenths important to you?
neck clearance is a brass quality issue.
several top shooters in br have gone to no turn necks with the current high quality brass we have available.
i have both turn and no turn necks...but i often turn for uniformity even on the large chambers.
(honestly the guy sounds lost between goals and wants)

The dimensions are there, you tell me what bullets it is for.
no idea, all my reamers are based on dummy rounds with my bullet at my desired length.
i can tell you the navy reamer came with in .002 of spec with a smk220. as in cart length at touch was 3.502 spec is 3.500

Not familiar with a Kile reamer, a tight neck is not something you would use in combat.
I use standard, no neck turn reamers ...for all rifles, especially working rifles. They will still shoot small groups...really. Then buy a 30 cal throating reamer. So you can adjust the throat yourself to the load I choose.
This way you use factory ammo if ya run out in case of emergency.
I have long throats on 308 Win 8 twist to shoot 225 ELDM at 2675 fps, built on a long action
And 300 RUM altered, milled the Rem 700 Action and set back bolt stop. With a New mag for 4.020" long cartridges out of the mag for 250 Atips at 2985fps in 26" barrel. These will both shoot factory ammo if necessary.
Both have extended throats by me...but standard chambers using the same .3086" dia throating reamer. Works well, chambers everything, and is accurate.
What is this magazine for 4.020" long cartridges?!

I use a Wyatts box mag modified a bit...and it will not fit an unmilled action.
If you go to alum chassis a center feed drop in detachable mag boxes are available at 3.850". I have used the Alum chassis types and mags work well..like my 308 win will fit 3.400" detachable mags for up to 250 gr Atips....I'm shootings 225 gr eldm at 2675 fps .777 BC in 308 win case with this set up...so you can see a significant improvement.
And what I'd suggest for the easiest way to get 3.850" 225 eld Alum chassis detachable mag setup is drop in, for the 300 win mag...the reciever may have to be milled and bolt stop milled back to use all the mag length... You'll have to check with dummy rds.to see where your Max COAL is with respect to mag length... maybe even use a throating reamer to utilize the 3.850" available.
But just a standard reviver will be an improvement as you push the bullet way out of the case then add more slower burning powder to make more velocity. Since the 300PRC and the 300 win mag are similar in capacity, there will be no advantage using the PRC, as its best advantage is longer COAL...and no belt, which has never bothered me, as I been using them for many years, and headspace off the shoulder.

It's interesting. Lots of guys become convinced that there is some magic in a tight chamber. Tight chambers do not shoot better than SAAMI chambers, but they can give you clickers, often require a custom die, and limit your options.

A SAAMI or CIP spec chamber, throated longer if needed, covers 99% of shooting disciplines.

On occasion we fuss with a non-standard chamber for a wildcat cartridge for a certain applications like benchrest. When fully sorted out this can provide a slight advantage, but it is a pain sorting it out and is often a worse solution until it's fully sorted out.

I think what these guys are asking for is a min-spec SAAMI chamber that isn't wallowed out do to poor chambering practices. That said, I'll take a slightly larger chamber over a tight chamber any day of the week. Tight chambers are usually nothing but grief.......

How much cartridge to chamber clearance is there when the condition of "tight" starts?

Tight happens when you cut a chamber with a reamer with smaller dimensions than SAAMI or CIP, unless you are sloppy with chambering. Tight can also happens when you set less than zero headspace.

Symptoms are when you have to neck turn, you get clickers, the bolt closes with tension on new brass.

It’s when your dies aren’t able to properly size the case down consistently to get proper fit and expansion, case will eventually work hard at basically chamber dimensions and clickers show their ugly head.

A certain reamer company( and some smiths) were well known years ago(and probably still) promoting minimum dimension chambers/reamers.

Where do you buy a #1 contour 30 caliber SS barrel?
Sorry for the long delay as my dad would say "I have been as busy as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest!"

One sone came home from Syria and is no longer in the Army. One son was hit by a big rig with trailer and it demolished his car been going rounds with insurance company and the normal stuff. Praise God my son walked away from the accident.

So I got 2x 29 inch profiled and crowned SS 30 Cal 1:8 twist SS barrels from Bergara prob. 8 to 10 years ago. Wait for it I paid $79 I think for each with $20 shipping.

I got a lot of barrels from them 8-10 years ago From #1 to 1.35 blanks in the $49 to $179 price range always on clearance. also got a few 1.20 SS 1:8 blanks. A few 338 blanks and a few other's.

So with 29 inch contoured and crowned blanks in 1:8 twist I want to make sure I do not short change myself against future developments because I just have not kept up with 300WM custom reamers!

The 300WM SAAMI reamer is terrible design given what we know today.

I am using a Howa action so they will handle some really long stuff with just a little gunsmithing. Plenty of people have used them to build 338LM magnum and Weatherby uses them for their proprietary cartridges in the Weatherby Vanguard line. So chamber limits are bigger issue than COAL magazine limits from blind magazine. Plus the most common issue on Howa's is a throat way longer than SAAMI forcing you reload to get the best accuracy.

The forcing cone/throat junction on SAAMI spec 300WM reamer creates a lot of alignment issues and creates pressure spikes that we do not need to live with as hand loaders!

In the past I used SAAMI chamber and if I needed more throat had my gunsmith use a 30Cal throater but I think we have the knowledge and ability to optimize this old design.

I have fired off at least 3 emails to PTG and never heard back from them which is why I still have not gotten around to ordering a reamer. Plus I have built 3 other rifles during this time so my attention has been spread thin.
