300 Win Mag build

Building a 300 Win Mag (Tac-Match reamer)and have a Rem Varmint contour Bartlein 5R .299 bore with 11.25TW. Will be 26" long on a Stiller action. Don't plan on using heavier than 175 grain bullets in it. Will this be a good choice?

Have you considered the short magnum? I read it has longer barrel life . Uses less powder too.

Building for a friend and it is only for hunting.

Should be fine, I built a 300WSM with a 12 twist barrel with a .299 bore that was super accurate with 155-168gr bullets. That 11.25 should shoot 180's as well. Be aware that the .299 bore isn't going to handle the same charge as a .300 bore. You will be a couple grains less powder & probably velocity as well. It will probably make up for that in accuracy though.

Thanks to all for your help. Finished the barreled action and now just waiting for the McMillan Hunter/Tactical stock to arrive.
