300 whisper terminal performance???

I was wondering if any of you had any experience with the use of a 300 whisper on coyote sized game. I am figuring that the max range would be around 150 yards due to velocity, but what kind of bullet preformance could I expect at such slow velocities? I am looking into something that would have less report in populated hunting areas.

Whatever gave the best results. I remember reading somewhere of one that shot great using 220 grain. I know it would be a short range gun, but some places I hunt I wouldn't expect to shoot more than 100 yards. What would be the quietest, and most effective?

220 hornady Rn's work well at 150 whether on deer or coyote .

Hi Tim,a friend I shoot with has a 300 Whisper, he shoots 147g cheep fmj bullets at over 2200 fps. His rifle is a single shot AR15,uk laws) and it will group about 3" at 200 yards He also shoots, I think, 200g cast lead bullets at subsonic speeds...really fun. If you need any load data send me a pm.

You can go to the JBM calculator and put in the bullet and speed you wish to model and see what the trajectory will be like. Looks like a 200 grain .30 cal at about 1050fps will be sort of like chunking a rock. Should be great fun. Wish I had one.

I zero mine at 100....from 100 to 200 the drops is 32" at the altitude I shoot at...so estimate 15" at 150.
