.300 Whisper Loads...

I have been shooting 240SMK's subsonic, out of my .300 Whisper with H-110. Is anybody shooting 208A-Max's out of their Whisper? If so what powders are you using and what is a recommended starting load? Also, is anybody aware if Hornady has any loads for the 208A-Max listed in the new manual? Thanks DC

AR. Very accurate w/the 240gr. SMK's. and 7.9gr. of H-110.

I shoot the 210 Berger VLD's out of a Kelly Kyle 300 Whisper which should be very close to the A-Max. The gun is very accurate and i have had the best results with Lil' Gun (8.1gr if i remember correctly) and AA#9. VV-110, AA-1680, AA#5, are also very popular but the first two shot the best in my rifle.

Try those two powders - i am getting five shot groups in well under an inch with my loads.

I have been shooting the 220 gr RN hornadys with 8.9 H110. They come in about 950-1000 in the cold weather we’ve been having...

Be very careful as MOST of the load data I have found online for the whisper is way off. Im not sure why but I have found huge variations in gr of powder used. I had to ditch all the info I found and just spend a bunch of time with the chronograph.

Try the 220 RN, I think you will like them if you shoot mostly sub loads.

Dump Hodgdon H110 its case fill is not great and it's temp sensitive on the .300 Subsonic cals. Get VV N110 and solve case fill and temp problems. Worked great in my16" bolt action .300/221 fireball with 9.5gr with Hornady 220gr Interlocks at 1050fps less than .5" at 100 yds for 5 shots regularly with a 3.5x15 NF.

For AR platform 16" 1:8tw with 220 SMK's and LC brass and gas in the pistol position I'm using 8.2gr VV N110 985FPS avg and getting sub 1" 5 shot groups at 100 yds with an AIMPOINT Comp ML3 reddot. I prefer keeping speeds around 1000 FPS so whether Winter or Summer temp changes I'm still subsonic.

I have plans to build a suppressed rifle on the 30 BR case as my donor action has the .473 boltface. Does anyone know the difference in capacity between the 300 whisper and a 30 BR? Any info would be appreciated.
