300 Savage brass from 308 Win?

Anybody know if I can form 300 Savage from 308 Win with just trimming, annealing, and careful use of 300 Savage F.L. dies. I nor my son can find any 300 savage brass for his rifle. Won't be able to fire-form the brass (son & rifle in WY, I & reloading equip in KY) but don't think it would need it if the shoulder pushes back and changes angle correctly. Thanks for any information or suggestions. Jim

As for your question 308 to 300 yes it will work. Depending on the brand of case you use you may need to turn the necks some. I have made 30x47 cases out of 308 Win and 300 Savage. Basically the 30x47 is the 300 savage case with the shoulder pushed back 10 thousands shorter and leaving the case the same length as the 300 savage.

Thanks 2506, I'm going to try it. Will be very careful with headspace measurements & will modify the 308 headstamp so they don't get mixed up & used in a 308 ( talk about excessive headspace!)
