I have a Ruger RPR in 300 PRC. I'm fairly new to precision reloading. Just call meconsistantly "newbie". I wanted to try the 230 grain A-Tips and started to work up a load for it. My buddy has the same rifle and his RPR 300 PRC shoots really well with Hornady brass, 77.2 grains of H-1000, 230 grain A-Tips with a COAL of 3.750.
When I got my RPR the only ammo available was Hornady 225 gr EDL-M. My rifle hated that ammo. I mean 3-4" groups. I then went about getting the things I needed to reload for it.
I'm using Hornady Match Grade FL bushing dies, H-1000, bullets on hand are 230 Gr A-Tips, 220 Gr SMKs, and 220 ELD-M's. I've only loaded the A-Tips so far. I started with 77.2 grains of H-1000, Fed 215 GMM primers, and Hornady brass fired out of my rifle. I would have seated the A-tips .20 off the lands but it's to long for the magazine. I started with just seating them to fit the mag. I've had shot some good 3-5 shot groups with this load but consistently.
I have RL-26 and 4831-SC in my inventory but I wanted to keep working with the H-1000 and the A-Tips for just a bit longer. Time is my enemy as I work 2 jobs.
I would appreciate any advice, pet loads, etc. I consider my self a pilgrim and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance fellas.
