300 lapua info please

Gidday,
I'm in nz and not much info here.
I'm pretty keen to use 225 eldm with retumbo and 215m primers in necked down lapua brass.
just seeing g if any body on here dabbling with this or similar combos.
I have some 212 eldx as well.
just made a few bombs up with 91g of retumbo to get on paper with the new barrel and scope combo.
it's a trg platform with a carbon wrap barrel.
cheers Andy

I'm not sure that the .300 Lapua Magnum is all that popular here in the U.S. This is the data from Vihtavuori which I'm sure you've seen:

You could probably work with some of the data from the .300 Norma Magnum, not as a direct substitute but by some careful interpolation.

I'm working with the .338 Norma Mag, .300 Norma Mag and the a wildcat variation in 7mm on the .300 case. I skipped the .300 Lapua.

Several times I tried to get Lapua to bring that round to market knowing what was in the wind. Now we have the 300 Norma.

Did Lapua ever give you an explanation for refusing to bring it to market? I think they've been approached by quite a number of people, yet refuse to follow up with any good reasons that they want to release or discuss. I'm curious as to what they said to you.

Thanks!

That round was CIP certified but to my knowledge was never produced commercially. This was at a time when demand exceeded production capacity.

I'm working on a 30-338 Lapua project at the moment. I found the PTG reamer in stock and Whidden made dies based on the print. It seems to be closer to a 300 RUM with much better brass.

I have been out for a play today running the 225 eldm with 91 of retumbo but was a abit hot.
90 grains was a lot better and shot 1/2 inch with mag fit and unfired formed case.
so showing great potential.
chronagraphed at 3035 av so quick enough with that massive bc.
it's a great start anyway

As Dave state the round was CIP certified. From the research I remember doing, it seems that there were some rounds produced, but they were restricted to British military.

Did you give up on the 338 Andy ??

Retumbo is too fast, you need RL33 or preferably RL50 or 2218.

I have a reamer on order for a specific Rifle, will be interesting to see what you come up with
