300 AAC Blackout contest

Me personally will pass on the ".300BO" flavor of the month. After chatting with a few of my AR buddies who did the conversion both commented "It's all fun and exciting when ya got a new upper and caliber to shoot, but then it simply gets old and boring". Shooting .300BO subsonic has some coolness to it, but that's about it. From a recreational weekend shooter viewpoint it just doesn't make any practical sense to stuff expensive and heavy .30 cal bullets into a modded .223 case. But I also all for "do whatever you enjoy..." ;)

Let's get a 338ppc shoot going...
I've done a .338 Grendle and a .375 version as well , pretty accurate for what they are.

I can see a 338, even a 358 on the Grendel. The 375 would seem to be really pushing not having any shoulder at all.

I know what you mean but I already have a 222R, 223, 6/223 and 6BR.
THAT 300 BLK is giving me tunnel vision. She's one sexy babe even if it turns out she can't cook.
How about a 30 Grendel? Aka 30 Major?

I know, first hand, that one will get the job done.

Actually I had a 30BR in the works until I saw the new Lapua 300 BLK brass mentionned in the daily bulletin. After doing a bit of research on the 300 BLK it became irressitable, I have to try it.
The 30 Gendel is definitely a sweet cartridge though.

I got into the 30 Major because I wanted 30 BR-ish performance with a PPC bolt face. I've stayed with it because I have no reason to change and also because I shoot it in my AR.

That Speer 125 gr TNT is sweeet at 2600 FPS in the AR. Makes big holes in coyotes. I'm jonesing to shoot a deer with it, but I live in OH where there is no rifle hunting.

I read an article on the Rifleman's blog about a guy shooting a 300 BLK in 300 yard competition of some sort that was getting excellent accuracy. You might go to that article to gain some insight about it's accuracy potential. I tend to believe what German Salazar allows to be printed on his blog.

Here is a link to the article that ebb has referred to I believe. It is a very good read for 300 BLK fans.

A huge Thank you to German for hosting such high quality material.

As fine as the blackout is for its intended purpose of selling tactikool rifles, does it even penetrate the paper at 100? Seriously i put together a model seven with an 11" barrel and suppressor for one of those class 3 type guys and itll do it. His wife uses it to deer hunt believe it or not.

What's not to believe? Beats the snot out of pappy's old 30-30.

So does a .308 and 30br.....

I don't think it is that far off. I have three five shot groups that are sub .25 . not on the same day . I will say it took some messing around and a slow twist barrel with bib 118 bullets. They averaged at .34 ish for the load with the bib bullets. So I think it could be done.
