30 Poachers and an outfitter NAILED!

Yup, these guys all need to loose more than what they did (no, they didn't receive huge fines, take note that the fines were a combined amount, not per person, and only one person went to jail). I've read many posts on some hunting forums where the members supported illegal acts and nobody seemed to be upset. In fact, when I pointed out the illegality of the acts I was banned from one site.

Most people today have very flexible ideals, if they profit from it then it's justified. Don't believe me? Then let me ask you, is it OK to use a cell phone to call or text your buddy about a great animal that you just saw so he can help you hunt it? Check your state hunting regulations, a lot of people don't even know if it's legal (it's not in quite a few states). If a person objects to the law then s/he will justify violating it to themselves because they profit from it. I wonder how many of the members here would scoff at the law and say it's stupid and therefore they feel justified in "poaching" their animal by using an electronic means of hunting it?

Good for Nebraska, at least they are trying. Years ago i watched a poaching ring on horse back round up elk and herd them onto a ranch dring elk season, when i got back to town i went to the Oregon state police office and offered to show them where it was since all the tracks were just made and they laughed and said go film it and we will do something about it, otherwise don't bother us.

Could never understand the almost maniacal need to get a trophy.
Except for Steve Rinella, most of the hunt shows on media are oriented that way.

Just greed!

FWIW: There have been several studies done over the years that prove (where deer numbers are too high) single sex deer hunts do not succeed in controlling deer populations. You need doe hunts. Now how many hunt shows have you seen where a doe is the target animal?

if you werent wearing your seat belt when you got to the SP barracks they woulda gave you a ticket then told you they will do nothing

hate to say this but this is akin to arresting some guy on the corner with 5 vials of crack then thinking they made a dent in drug crime

Here in Maryland, it is the fishing industry that abounds with poachers. Two years ago, one small company was charged with harvesting 100,000 lbs of Stripped Bass or as they are called here, Rock Fish. They arrested at least 20 boat captains and overall there were 2 million lbs of illegal fish poached. The wholesalers were also prosecuted for buying fish with no tags. A few went to jail for a short time and some paid fines but not much else. The best deterrent would have been confiscation of the fruits of the crime. Boats, trucks and buildings used in their business ventures plus any money earned illegally.

Then there are the oyster and blue crab scandals.

The problem I have with that article is that they twice referred to poaching as "hunting." Once it was 'illegal hunting activities.' I'm sorry, but poaching and hunting are two diametrically opposed activities.
What do you call it when you wreck the front of your truck hitting one ??
