I've been seriously considering trying some of these in my .300 WM. Any of you guys tried them yet? If so, I'd appreciate some opinions, comparisons to 210 SMK's and 210 Bergers.

TIA,

Just a bit of advise, they don't like barrels with 5r or 5c rifling,a couple of good shooters have found this out.

Matt, thanks for the heads up! Probably saved me from wasting time and money, along with further eroding the throat on my cut-rifled 5R barrel.

Reviving an old post due to new reloading -

Anyone know what kind of rifling the 208grn AMaxs do like? I'm looking at putting together a rifle this fall and would rather use experience from shooters to prevent mistakes than learn form my own expensive mistakes.

Thanks.

I've shot them in a 10 twist Lothar Walther and Krieger and they both liked them alot. They shot as good as the 210 VLDs. H1000 powder worked great also giving me velocities in the 2950fps area without a problem. Never heard of them having problems in 5R or 5C rifling. I'll have to try them in my 10 twist Broughton 5C .308.

Ive been using them in my 300WM 1-9 twist 5gr. H1000 produces some nice LR groups. No problem hitting a 10" by 8" plate at 1050yds. 2860fps seems to be my magic number

I dont see why the A max wouldnt shoot in a 5r I have gotten better accuary with the 5r than the 6 button [hart] espelialy so with longer shot strings

Don't I know you from somewhere?

Anybody have any loads with H4831SC or RE22? I'm considering loading them with my 210SMK charge weights. The dang overall length of these things has thrown me for a loop though.

For RL22 my load with Win brass in my 300WM was 71grns for the 208 AMAX and 210 VLD but start lower to be safe as you know.

I just did my first range trip with the 208gr AMax in my 300 Win Mag. I got some really good results doing a basic ladder test in .3grn increaments. I was using IMR 7828SSC at 75 grains. I can only guess the group was around .352" @ 100 yds. For the full write up, go to this link http://www.snipercentral.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16529 .

Negative - I'm at .05 off. Its a little tight... but it shoots like a dream. I'll probably start working on my seating depth next. I just run the first couple loads at .05 off for load development.

I'm shooting the AMAX in a 28" 1/10 Krieger 300 WM.

I'm using H1000 and getting very impressive velocity.

Bullets are just off the lands

Hi
im running a TRG 42 win 300 with a max 208g. My best groups are with the bulets 5 mm!!! or 0.2 inches off the lands.

Is this normal for TRGs to have such a big jump into the lands?

I Had good groups with the starting load and the highest load, but decided to stay with the satrting load at 2620 feet per sec.

any feedback very welllcome
