30 BRA for Deer hunting?

There is something about the 30 cal bullets in a little case that i like alot.
Ive been looking at the .30 Br then thought
With the popularity of the 6mm,& 22arc cartridge it has made more interest in the 6.5 grendel case. Making components readily available
Something based off the 6.5 grendel case may be more economical just a thought
That would be the 30 major.

I would not hamstring myself with a 17 Twist when wanting to shoot deer bullets; a tad bit extra twist is not going to ruin accuracy. The Sierra 125g Pro Hunter is one heck of a killing bullet on deer and hogs, and I have shot some BIG white tails with this bullet out of various 308s.

About 15 years ago, Ruger made a run of the 7.62x39 in their Ruger Mark II, sporter, and I bought one. I did the usual bedding, free floated the magazine box and barrel, and trigger job. I went to work on load development with the bullets normally used in a 303 British, Hornady 150g. I got a very decent deer load, around 5/8" with a LOT of tinkering.

At the first of the deer season, I killed two does at a distance of 190 yards; they dropped on the spot.

Moral of the story, just because the case is small does not mean that you have to shoot small bullets, so why put limits on yourself for a hunting rifle.

I've tried and tried to get people to try my 30br in 10 twist. It is genuinely odd that people ONLY shoot 30br in 16 or 17 twist. I've never heard of caliber where only one twist is acceptable.

Here is a picture of a customer target in 30br. Ten shots with 150 match bullets.Screenshot_20250502_092844_Samsung Internet.jpg

In Illinois yes it has to be a case not over 1.4 inch and been commercially loaded with published ballistics that meet the minimum ft/lb of energy I think it's 500. The 30 Bellm has been commercially loaded with published ballistics.

I just got a new 30 Bellm barrel back it's the last piece for a new rifle to hunt with. It will be tough to top my other Bellm but I think this one will because it's a little heavy. I will only use it in my stand or blind. I'll get a target up and see what it will do as soon as the weather gets better.
