30 BR with Lapua 100 grain Target bullet for VFS

Tried them once. Shot horribly for me. Ymmv.
Might still have whatever is left of the box.

I tried them, 100 gr Lapua, was looking for a lighter bullet. Less recoil. And cheaper. I'm a little recoil sensitive.
I did get fair results, but I don't think you could be competitive. They are like a jacket semi wade cutter with
a hollow point. Maybe some more testing could find a sweet spot. ymmv.
I may just buy some bullet making dies for 30cal VFS. I no its not a cheap. But from what I learned by making my own 6mm 68bt bullets is at the end of the day its money well spent.

Sounds like my experience with the 110 gr. Sierra and Nosler 30 cal. Accuracy left a lot to be desired with both. I only use them now to blow out brass.
i think sorted hornady 125's and berger 115s are the wat to go on a budget.
The Berger 115 gr. is a great choice for the 30BR. Both my BR and Hunter 30BRs will group them @ 1/4 inch consistently with H-4198 and VV-N130 as well. The pic below is a 10 shot group @ 100 yds. with my BR rifle.

Hornady 125's don't even compare to Berger 115's sorted or not. Not even in the same league. And as far as budget goes, the Berger 115's are now more expensive than custom 30 caliber match bullets so that's no budget. Not all that long ago you could pick op Berger 115's for 34 cents each. PV sells them for 54 cents each by the 500 ct box.

Swapping from 112 gr. Barts to 115 gr. Bergers I don't feel any difference with neither my 700 BR or M-7 Hunter. But. I do have an F-class bi-pod for my M-7. The 112 gr. Barts shoot fantastic in either of my rifles.

Bill, was that target with N-130? If so what was your load if you don't mind. I was thinking about getting some to try.

No Sir, this was the data for that particular group. Please work up the load for your rifle if you get ahold of some H-4198.

I have seen shooters do VERY well with the 115 Berger.
Some days the 115 gr. will out perform the 112 gr. in my B R rifle.
Hey Jim that's a deal; at my local shop they want .85 cents each for a 500 ct box of Berger's. Oh... That's in CDN dollars eh...... But at least he has them, unlike most everything else I need......

Appreciate the info. My 30BR rifle has always like 34.5 of the H-4198. Getting ready to try some LT30 when I have a chance with some decent weather when I can make it to the range. I like the Berger for my local club matches, that way I can save my Bibs or Barts for actual UBR matches. Just also interested in the N-130 to see how it does. Also have a 30BRS that loves the H4198 with 112s or 118s.

OK I probably have some helpful data. Need to know what weight and bullet u r going to try.

I shot the UBR 100/200 nationals and my load was 37.1 of H4198 with Bib 112s (first match for me with that new to me rifle and chambering). I was just looking into the future if my supply of H4198 runs low and was trying to plan ahead with either the N130 or LT30 with the Bib 112s.
