30 BR Revisit

I have two 30 BR’s, 17T for target & 15T for hunting, I was using H4198 in both. They both produced great accuracy but now I’m out of H4198, I was reading the 30 BR article here and there was a mention of using Reloder 7, which I have about 3 pounds of, but no data. Does anyone here have any data using RL-7 that they are willing to share? I would greatly appreciate any info you share.

You didn't say at what COL but QuickLoad says with that Sierra150 seated to 2.20 COL, start with 30gr and work up.

BTW, spent the first 22 yrs of my life in Dundalk.

Haven’t tried the RL7, but having great 30BR target results with the N130. I have been able to buy 8 one pounders of the N130 since the last time I could buy any H4198.

Hoot, I know Dundalk well, I use to reside in the Cedonia area. It’s been a while since I loaded this round but I do know I was 0.020” off the lands, I don’t worry to much about COL just BTO. Got a deer at 75 yards with it five years ago. Thanks for the info, 30 is right at the shoulder…

If you have access to the latest Sierra manual, 6th edition, it has a complete work up for the 30 BR. from 110 gr to 200 gr bullets. powders listed for the 150 grain is N133, 4198, benchmark, 322, 335 ,4895 & 2520

The Sierra 5th edition also has data.

Can't help you with this problem, but just wanted to say, I go to Hermans Bakery about once a month. You are lucky to live so close to it.

Good luck on your loads.

34.5 gr. VV-N130 is looking very good as well in my rifle with Bart's 112 gr. & Berger 115 gr. Shooting sub-1/4 inch 10 shot groups @ 100 yds. essentially to the same POI. Using CCI BR-4 primers and seating @ .005 OTL.
