30-06 page dissapointment.

Glenn.....lacking an '06 page? Well then, it appears we're also lacking a 22 Hornet page, a 17 Ackley Hornet page, a 20VT page, oh and a 223 page........

I'd opine that data on the venerable .30-06 is more plentiful than virtually any other cartridge in existence, in books, internet, campfire and coffee-house chatter. With all the excellent information presented here on about every caliber in current use, do we really need an '06 page?

Me thinks not, but I've been wrong before.

(I've got two '06's, and have never been hurting for load data or any related information.......)

Glenn-There is a lot of info by Salazar on the Rifleman's Journal, loads, ballistics, chamber dimensions, etc. You can do a search.

Its been two years since the rumor and promise of a page dedicated to the 30-06, as of yet....nothing delivered. It is a sad, sad statement about this site that is so prejudiced to a cartridge because of its advanced age. As of this moment I will boycot this site for a period of one whole hour. Do not expect to see me or hear from me again until such time has past. >:(

It appears you are getting what you PAID for? For a generous minority on this site, this site is not "free." I suggest you join us!!!

It's usually the ones that are not Site Contributors that feel like they are owed something. :(

It sounded to me that the op was pretty tongue in cheek, I don't think its a matter of feeling owed something just be facetious.

From your profile it sounds like your a big game hunter. The bullet and powder manufacturers have a lot of free info on their websites. You shouldn't need to get into target shooting techniques like weighing and measuring bullets and cases. No-one can tell you what will work well in your rifle.

Absolutely.

The 30-06 along with the 300WM with the new target bullets offered by Berger in 200, 215 and 230gr hybrid are rising up out of the ashes just like the phoenix!
For those that prefer a 30cal the 30-06/30-06AI with 200gr hybrids is a match for the 7mm Shehane with 180gr bullets. For those that prefer the 300WM then it leaves the 7mm 180 grainers far behind in the BC stakes with the new (newish) 215 and 230gr hybrids.

Once these cases start featuring again in F-Class competitions and other events then maybe a page on this website will happen automatically. The 30cals are making a comeback and with good reason, just be patient and wait for the critical mass to evolve.

I vaguely recall that Mr Salazar had a shoulder injury/surgery that put him out of the high-power game for at least a year now. I believe he is shooting rimfire matches in the meantime, but I highly doubt putting a few thousand 30-06 rounds downrange will be his priority.

That said, I agree that his current page is a wealth of information as it is. Maybe a mod can set up a 30-06 page here, with just a single link to his blog. ::)

Or, if there's anything the users can do to submit an article, I'd be very interested. I've got a custom build 30-06 on it's way (built by Salazar's smith, using his reamer) and I've always wanted to try my hands at publishing a work.
