I after 5 shoulder surgeries and few stainless steel 12 mm bolts installed... still shoot the heavy recoiling rifles ...quite a bit. A slow learner, but I've added muzzle brakes to many...70 rds of 50BMG on my 70th birthday. 300 RUM 250 gr ATIPS 2985 fps from the prone...but added a muzzle breake...many rifles now carry muzzle breaks. Except a few 416 Rigby, 338 Win mag, 45-90 lever curved steel but plate 500 gr bullets 1800 fps gets the arthritis loosed up in the shoulder. The fairly light unbraked 416 Rigby with the 400 gr at 2600 fps is most notable in recoil...after 20 rds, almost guaranteed a burised shoulder. Muzzle brakes work and make the unpleasant...pleasant.
