3 most popular powders needed

I have a new 6br built on rem. 700 with 28 inch bartlien barrel.
.262 nk. I want to shoot 600-1000 yard benchrest, what powders
should i invest in. Thanks.

Varget or RE-15 have both worked well for me.

Have you looked on the main site article on the 6mm BR... should give you plenty of 'leads' for load data.

Other powders,in addition to Varget and Reloader 15) to consider are H4895, IMR4895, and N150. These have all been used with good competition success in the 6BR and 6BR improved.

Quickload suggests that N550, Win 760, and Ramshot Big Game should yield good velocities, but the later two are ball powders, and most folks think they give up a bit, accuracy wise to the extruded powders. I haven't personally tried Big Game or 760 in the 6BR.

For three powders, I'd try RL15, Varget, and N150 for starters.

This is presuming you have an 8-twist barrel and plan to shoot the 100-108gr class bullets.

Tried VARGET as it is my GO TO powder in 308 and 223. It did nto yield the velocities I wanted but accuracy was great. Then I tried VV550 and the velocities are up over 100 fps while pressures appear milder than VARGET. Acurracy is just a tad less, but velocitie and pressures make up for it. My wife's gun is shooting 30.5 gr. of VV550 with a Sierra 107 in a Lapua case with CCI-450 primers in the 2880 fps range and she is kicking butt with her gun and this load out to 1000 yards.

Try VV550 and I think you will like it.

I agree with the Varget as a go to powder but in looking at some past test targets it seems that IMR4895 gave some very good accuracy.
