#3 Harrel's Precision 6BRA die

How do Harrel's determine their custom die sizes? After sending in three cases, fired three times. Is a #3 for a looser chamber or a tighter chamber? Inquiring minds want to know

All I know is that the higher the number, the more it sizes the cases. So a #3 will size the case more than a #2.

Ok, I'm just repeating what I was told. The #3 will be .003 under at all points. Please correct if I'm wrong.

But I bet if you call Harrel's on Monday morning, you'll get your answer. They are GREAT folks to deal with..

I recommend a #3 with the BRA case which is .4609 at the shoulder and .4714 at the .2" line. There is minor variation from heat treat but that die works well. If you find you get clickers (unlikely) or you have a smaller base reamer like the ptg spec dashers at .4708" you can go to a 3.5 or even a 4 and they will fix that issue.

It was a JGS reamer, and cut very smooth. Thanks Alex. I have done a lot of business with Harrell's, excellent, friendly place to business with. First time with a die though. Couldn't wait until Monday, figured someone here would know.

They are. Just received my #3 die yesterday from them!

The dies work great but mine were not marked when I got them. I marked them with a sharpie for now but hope to get them engraved at some point. I’d hate to have a problem down the road since I have more than one.

My Harrels 6 ppc dies are marked with a number on the bottom face

The BRA dies are not because they are cut down dasher dies. The number is cut off.
