What caliber were they shot with? It seems rather small.

I guess I got spoiled shooting 30-8mm's with 150/155gr bullets 3550 to 3650fps for rockchucks. Those two would have been turned into chunks and red mist.

ya with me living in Houston now, these trips back home to pa are dear to me. i grew up shooting these guys every since my dad got me my first rifle, 788 in 22-250, when I was 12.

I still have that action - going to have speedy rebarrel it for me in 22-250 and give it back to my dad as a momento next summer.
