2FP Fine crosshair MRAD scope?

Philly

Gold $$ Contributor
I shoot very simple. I'm looking for a simple scope (or I thought it would be simple) to shoot long range. I basically shoot rocks out to 1200 ish (and ground squirrels). Looking for a 2nd focal plane, fine crosshair and MRAD. Oh, and doesn't break the bank. Found a Burris signature but its MOA. Not that its a bad thing but its not exactly what I'm after. Any ideas? Thanks, Phil

The Trijicon tenmile 4.5-30 is literally the perfect scope for you. On sale under $1k at eurooptic.com. Glass is comparable, maybe better than MK5, ATACR, etc. Excellent turrets with tool-less zeroing, mine tracks perfect. Simple 2nd focal mil reticle with .2 mil holdovers. Illumination. Tenebraex caps included. You have no dilemma in my opinion...

How much are you looking to spend, and what top end magnification? I assume reliable dialing is important to you?
6-24 or 5-25 or something like that. Yes, dialing is important. I’d like to stay under a grand if possible.

That's tough finding mil dial values and crosshair reticle. Usually crosshair reticles are meant for target shooters and in those sports (benchrest, f-class) MOA is standard. Getting reliable dialing scopes also limits you to more reputable brands. I was hoping Sightron had something as they have reliable dialing, are not too expensive in sfp scopes, and are known for target shooting. However, there are no models with a fine crosshair AND mrad dial values. I searched Europtic too, restricting to mrad values and sfp scopes, but again nothing that was within your price range and had a fine crosshair. All of the mrad scopes I found had at least a mil-dot reticle, which is likely too busy for you.

I think you may have to give up the mrad dial values to get a fine cross hair. If you do, the Sightron SIII Long Range 8-32x56 with fine crosshair seems like it would be good for you, assuming you don't mind 56mm objectives and can live with 8x on the low end.
