.284 sizer using 6.5x284 dies?

Curious if I can use a 6.5x284 sizer with the appropriate bushing to size .284 brass. I see a lot of 6.5x284 stuff for sale and thought I might be able to save some cash.

Yes, but only if you bore the hole out below the bushing as it's too small diameter to let a 7mm case-neck through. I did that with a Forster 6.5-284 Bushing-Bump die as the company doesn't do one for the 'straight 284' and says it has no plans to do so.

I think it was Jim Hardy who posted in the past about trying this with his 6.5x.284 Shehane dies for the .284 Shehane round and said it didn't work. I don't recall him stating what the actual issue was. Might've been what's posted above. I'd send him a PM to see if it was in fact him and if so, what his issue was.

Edit- if it wasn't Jim, it would be TonyR
