I disagree. I'm building a 284 win as well and I posed a question on loading for the bottom metal mags also. I think if your using 2.800 as your length BUT keeping 140 gr bullets as your hunting option, it's fine. You still have more capacity than a .308 based cartridge. I'm planning on loading 162,168 gr bullets so my situation may be as stated. I may have trouble getting good enough speed from them loaded 2.800. I'm actually loading 2.850-3.050. Depending on accuracy will determine my finish COAL. I think you'd be just fine with ANY 140 gr bullet in 7mm.
