.284 nosler solid base

Does anyone have any idea about the B.C. of the old Nosler 162 gr solid base bullets?

Years ago, I had great success with the 140 gr version of same at 280 rem speeds on elk, bear, deer and predators. I have found a bunch of the 162 gr for sale and am considering whether to purchase for 280 AI and possibly a 7 mag.

I'm fairly certain they won't shine at distances past 5-600 yds, but in my experience, they are a deadly bullet for medium game.

I can adjust BC on a ballistic app for my actual drops, but am hoping someone can give me a BC I can run on ballistics, to see if I want to buy.

Are you sure it's 162 gr and not 150 ???

I say this because Quickload lists the 140 and 150 Nosler SP solid base, but not a 162 gr.
QL shows the g1 BC of the 150 gr as .459

Thanks, Zero333. The guy swears they are 162 gr., but I had never heard of Nosler making that bullet in 162 gr. I'll contact him again to be sure, though the 150 would probably work for my needs.

From the 1989 Nosler #3 manual: BC .483
Sectional Density .287

Just like the rest of my life. A day late and a dollar short.

Thanks so much guys. I located my old #3 manual and sure enough, it was there. Looks like IMR 7828 will get it moving. Knew the brain trust here would not fail me. All 400 are on the way. Now gotta call back for the 150s.

I would like to find some 140's for my 7x57, not fond of the Ballistic Tip version.

My source didn't have any 140s and said he had been been looking for years. I tried everywhere, then gave up and went to ballistic tips in my 280 and 7x57. You are right, the BTs work, but not as well.

Add: I did get the 150s also, 1,200 in sealed boxes are on their way. Old, but no plastic tips to fall apart.

I have about half a box of the 162's, maybe more if I dig, if anybody is interested we could work out a trade I'm sure.
