284 Fireforming Question

Does anyone have a safe cream of wheat fireforming load for straight 284?

My reamer has 0 freebore, so I need to fireform a couple of cases to make a Hornady gauge to set the freebore where we want it. Any help is appreciated!

IMO, cream of wheat is messy... if you just need a few to get guages made, just hit em with full power and get em right the first time.

jmo.. just what I would do..

9-10 grains of your favorite pistol powder. Fill the case with COW and top off with a patch.

I use 15 gr. Unique to get a nice fire form on .260 AI.

?? Of course you can seat a bullet with zero freebore. Plenty of varmint chambers are zero

Never done that. Only bullets I have are 180 SMK.

You can cram them in deep and just use a reduced charge if you want.
