284 feed

Will a 284 feed from a standard SA 700 magazine without altering or opening the magazine. Curious that since the case is a larger diameter than a standard 308 case diamater if there would be problems feeding the larger(284) case. Thanks for any input.

I don't know about the 700, but I have one on a Ruger Ultralight which was a 30/06.
I have a COL of 3.040" loading 175 gr Hornady interlocks and have no trouble feeding four out of the magazine.

Thanks, not concerned on OAL, it is the case diameter that I am concerned feeding from 700 action mag rails. 284 cas is .0300 greater in diamater than a 308 case diamater.

I've had a 6-284, a couple of 6.5-284's, and a straight 284, and all fed fine in long and short 700's.

Another point here. I had my custom 284 built over 20 years ago on A Rem SA stainless. Cut the bolt stop back another 1/4" to help throw the case and put a long mag well in below action. The loaded round at 3.1", was special built for the Barnes 140 gr. Sure been a good gun.Pete
