I think we are all closer than we realize to losing 7mm bullets. I had to recently take more sighters in my saum than normal, a Brux 4 groove. Combination of fog interfering with my comfort level, deciding I’d try a different load in sighters, and waiting on sight clearance to put any test rounds on the E-targets. While we’ve had no-reads, and we reshoot them, I have my suspicions about a hot barrel. These were not Hornady bullets; it occurred on two brands, because I switched back after an occurrence, and yes, they were both moving along.
Point being, more sighters or faster shooting than we are accustomed to might produce an effect we are often flirting with, unknowingly. Was it Bob Mead who originally called it “finicky” in an interview with Erik?
It’s not just “finicky,” the Saum is a Napoleon-complexed little fire-plug of a chip-on-its-shoulder, fresh-landed immigrant-turned-gangster, that routinely punches harder than the bones of its hands can withstand, and spends 3 nights a month in the drunk tank, 3 in the hospital, and when at work, breaks as many tools as everyone else, combined.
