Me either. :D I've often wondered if there is an ideal design for length versus diameter, as far as efficiency goes.

Most prefer the .284 Win or Shehane but Mr. David Bailey won the F-Open National Championship shooting a .280 Rem with Remington brass. So, there's your definitive answer. ;)

Thanks Steve for your answer.

I shoot a 284 Win., and have wondered if there's any difference with the 280. I know Bailey won, but would really like more info before I put a 280 barrel on my rig.

I know this is being picky, but sometimes that's all it takes.

"short and fat always beats tall and thin" except when they wear a skirt.

If you read and believe the 'Houston Warehouse" findings. The 22PPC had the most inherited accuracy, followed by the 22BR. Both short and fat!

What is the difference in case capacity between the 284 and the 280 or 280AI? Remember when all the 1000 yard rifles were belted magnums? And where do the WSM's fit into this study?

ditto: "Can't wait to see how this subject pans out" Might it be the quality of the components and the jerk on the trigger????

Forget not the SAUM if you're going to throw the WSM in there

I have a 22PPC 14 twist barrel. I have no clue what I am going to do with it.

Any suggestions?
