.277 caliber bullets

is anyone here shooting any of the matrix vld's in the 165 and heavier area? i have done some reading and am thinking of eventually having my 270 wsm weatherby vangaurd rebarreled with a 26" or so magnum contour 1:8 or 1:9 twist barrel to fly these bullets. i have played with them a bit on the calculator and they have some power.

also is there any other customs above a 150 out there?

The 270 is one of my favorite rounds and in my opinion very under rated and under served by the bullet manufacturers and long range hunters. I've never shot anything that heavy but good luck and hopefully you get some good replies.

i have heard that the 6.5 and the 7mm rounds are the most ballisticly perfect there are, but if the .277 is in between then why wouldnt it be the most perfect ballistic shaped bullet if the manufacturers made some decent bullets for it? makes sence doesnt it?

I have shot the 165 vld in my 270 wby. The mv was 3193 and I shot several .25 three shot groups. Cold bore shot placement was good also. I wish that there was a US dealer as buying from outside the US is a pain for me. The 165vld was still going 1900fps at 1000 yds by the Berger program. And I hear that Berger will be out soon with a 170 vld. That would be nice.

i have been shooting my 270 mid range(havent had the time to shoot further yet)
im using 135gr SMK with 54.3gr of h4350 lit by a cci200
i shot a 7"by7" steel plate(hit all three times will a pretty small cluster but didnt measure) at 460 yards lazered,quite surprised on how flat this thing really shoots,the b.c. is higher then a 168gr smk in 30 cal....probably wouldnt hunt with it though,but for steel shooting its a good bullet
