Maybe you missed the part where I said shot placement is key. Bergers have always worked tremendously for me. A bullet that goes in and creates as much damage as possible to multiple organs and arteries instead of poking a hole through one makes sense to me. To each their own. Dead is dead.

I have mostly used 150 grain Partitions in my 270 on elk until SPS had a heck of a sale on the 140's a few years ago and I started using them. Excellent bullets both and I plan on using them until I stop hunting.

If you can get the Partitions to shoot well enough, they just never fail on game as long as you have enough velocity left at impact. I have loaded them for decades in many calibers but have been very frustrated with the newer versions lately. Struggling with a sudden loss of accuracy with a proven 25 cal 115 Partition load out of my custom 257 Ackley Improved, I decided to weigh a box. The deviation in weight among 100 bullets was a whopping 3.8 gr!!!! No way in hell to get those to shoot sub MOA?!? Weighed and batched and I'm back in business, but that's ridiculus for a "premium" bullet....... DW

The SST is an accurate good hunting bullet. It is not going to "shoot" thru an adult elk, at normal ranges. The vast majority of game is taken under 200 yards. And the 130 partition probably won't shoot thru either. Shoot the most accurate load/hunting bullet you can find, take 100% "I can put the bullet where I want to" shots. The bullet brand or type is not going to makeup for poor placement on elk.

I don’t think I would use a 130sst on an elk. A 150 sst yes, but if i wanted to use a 130 on elk it would be a partition.
