270 powder ?

I have a family member looking for a good powder for his .270. What is a good powder some of you guys are using with a 130 grain bullet.
i am starting with130NBt and H4831SC
i can't imagine having to go any farther.
just loaded 57,58gr and waiting for the wind to get below gale force to shoot them.

I think it was 4831 that Jack O'Conner swore by, but that was a different time and different powder. One of his biographers told me he actually shot more game with a 30-06. He had a 30-06 and 270 that were twin Mod. 70's, very nice rifles.

I've tried a lot of powders as I have a finicky Mauser sporter in .270 WIN. For me at least, the best powders are 4350, Winchester 760 and Reloder 19 depending on bullet weight.

H4831sc was best at 55gr for the 270 boat paddle i am loading for now20220329_162644.jpg
coal 3.320" as load data states

I shot 130’s for years, because that is what I was told to use…….took me 20+ years to change.
150’s and a dose of R26. Now it does over and above what they tried to tell me it was years ago.

my uncle swears by the 150gr also! they switched from 130gr and never looked back

this is my bro in law i am setting up and he wants 130 ‍s

4350 is what works for me with RL19 doing a close second. Heavier bullets up to 150 like the RL19 better.

Just IMHO....

With 130 gr bullets, try 4831. If your rifle doesn't shoot good groups with it, get your rifle worked on or get rid of it.
