.270 anybody

Does anybody use the .270 if so why if not why not.
I know they are flat and since you don't need any knockdown
power, just distance, why not?

I built one because I didn't have one. It turned out to be my favorite deer rifle. It is almost as flat as a 7mm Rem Mag and packs more punch than a 308 Win. It is just about perfect for those South Georgia peanut fields.

but why not for long range? Why kill your
shoulder with the more expensive 7mag when
you could shoot a .270?

My Win 70 in 270 is my go to gun for all my Texas hunting, short or long range. It has been a great caliber with a bunch of different types and weights of bullets. So I guess I would have to say that other than my Remington 788 in 243 Win., which I have had for 28 years, it is my favorite all around gun.
With Berger producing some new bullets for it I am thinking of building a .277 for some long range shooting. I have yet to decide on a cartridge to base it on but the project is at the very top of my list of future builds.

I use the .270 WSM for long range target shooting. I have been told that some people do not shoot the .270 because there is vary little variety of bullets to choose from,however in my opinion there is a wide selection of bullets and the .270 is capable of long range accuracy.

well i was just wondering because it seems like everyone is shooting a 6br,6ppc, or some 20cal.
