260 Rem with HDY ELD-M 147gr

I

Your situation is very interesting. Sounds like you are an early adopter

Very interesting. Sounds like you are an early adopter. Do you have access to Berger or Sierra bullets? They are more widely used here than Hornady. The 284 is the most popular cartridge but you can really increase your skills with the .260. It and the ackley variations can be pretty competitive. The 6.5-284 was king of the hill but low barrel life made shooters look for something else. The 284 with high bc Berger bullets seems to be a very good compromise.

Usually we have no bigger problem with availability of different bullet brands, the problem is the price... :-)
The Berger's are very very pricey - 100ct. box of 140gr Hybrid cost 65€... A box of 100ct. Sierra MK 142gr. is around 55€. Hornady ELD-M between 43-45€ for 100ct box.
Powder? 1lb of H4350 is around 55€... Alliant and IMR cost even more. How much in the US? Under 30$?
Beacause of this, most people shoot here Lapua bullets/brass, Vihtavuori and RS powders.

Back to topic.

I checked yesterday the case capacity of the Peterson 260 Rem brass. There is only small difference compared to the Lapua brass. I will try few more loads with the RS62 and then I plan fine tune the seating depth.

Understand. That is really pricey. VV powders are very good but expensive here. As you have noted on the forum, there are some complaints about ELD-M blow up at greater than 300yds. Could be bullet, barrel, or a combination. Keep learning the wind.

I already have checked the lot# number of my ELD-M 147 bullets... Lucky man, no match, different lot. So I hope they will not dissappear in mid-air flight.

Oh, yes. The wind. I'm trying to learn now for almost 20 years. So maybe I'll finish my study soon. :-)

I'm my opinion, you will always be in a
learning mode. Sorry I cannot help with your specific components, only general terms. I
do know Lapua makes good 6.5 mm bullets if you start having problems with the elds.

I use the 136gr Scenar-L in my 6.5x47 for mid-range competitions. It produce nice groups, but the 136gr bullet is not the slickiest in the wind, thatswhy I choose the 147 ELD-M for my F-Class rifle. I'll keep you updated with the progress with my 260 Rem.

Thanks
Lapua needs an updated high bc bullet in 6.5mm.
I'm going to build a fun rifle in 6.5 PRC when my reamer is finished. Plan to work up loads with the SMK 150 and Berger 140.
Will post results to you when we start.
Good shooting in your fclass.
