260 Rem at 1500 yards & 1 mile, which bullet?

Your 147 ELD will do it fine to about 2k, but the Berger 140 Hybrid would likely be more accurate in case you care about that as well as getting that far.If you use the Bergers, use H4350 powder and test it off the lands from 10-70 to find the sweet spot.

Why do you think the 140 Hybrid would be more accurate? The 147 ELD-M is very accurate. I don't shoot mega-ranges, so I am just curious why you say that.

I've been around the guys trying to take the 140 hybrid too far, IMO, it does fare well going through transonic range.

Sounds like a fun experiment...please let us know the results.

Looks like I forgot to report back. Seeing today's activity reminded me to reply with an update.

I participated in a milk jug challenge hosted by long range shooters of Utah. I was successful in hitting the jug at 1500 and 1000 yards. I credit a lot of luck for that 1500 yard hit.

The mile shot was tough, my bullets were getting pushed around a good bit. The wind was around 13 mph but it was swirling. It was interesting seeing wind flags at roughly 50 and 100 yards in front of me pointed in different directions! I had several impacts in the area but I don't think I got too close to that jug. I'm sure a more experienced shooter would have been more consistent. IIRC we had 3 shooters hit the jug at one mile out of ~20. I think those cartridges were a 28 nosler, 7mm rem mag and a 300 rum.

The load I ended up taking was 180 Berger Hybrids over IMR 4451 @ 2900 fps. I dialed up ~61 moa for the mile shot (6500ft elevation)

It was a fun trip. The furthest I had ever shot prior to this was 1000 yards. I may try it again... after I get a bigger gun :)
