260 Rem/260 AI advice needed

H4831 SC and Scenar 139 in my buddies 260AI at 3040fps. Blew through his first krieger last year and now on his Bartlein has over 1000 rounds and still going. No luck with the 140 bergers in either of the above barrels. Shoots great out to 1100 yards with it.

Just saw some suggested loads from Berger that the new Re 26 shows the possibility of more velocities in both 260 and 260AI with 140's. Waiting to find some around here without the hazmat fee. Anyone else tried it yet?

Not in my 260 yet, but in the 280AI it is a really amazing powder!!!!

What you should be seeking is matching or better accuracy. With this, the 260AI will get you to the same nodes(same place), better.

Am I close with my understanding of these two cartridges?

I'm new to the 260AI, I'm still on my first barrel. So far I have put 1,067 rounds through it and it is humming for me. I'm really keen on seeing how many rounds I can get out of one barrel before it goes south.

I have a 30" Bartlein on it with a 8 twist. I'm also using the Lapua Palma brass, H-4931sc and the B 140 hy. My barrel has consistently been 100 fps slower than other rifles chambered with the same reamer, but that hasn't stopped me from getting to 3,000fps. However, QuickLoad said that my node was at 2,973 so that's were I went. For the first time ever I scored two clean relays back to back at 600 yards (a 200-15X and a 200-9X). At my last 1,000 yard match I scored a 198-10X which is another personal best for me (both points dropped were my bonehead mistakes). I'm classified as an Expert at LR and its a fair appraisal of my skill level, but with this rifle, when conditions are right, I'm shooting like a high master. Heady stuff. Wind and mirage are my nemesis and I need more education there. When they show up I seem to fold up like a tent.

I like the 260AI. I already ordered my second barrel.

I don't know about a 260ai but I got 2400 rounds out of my last 260 it still shot OK less then 10in at 1000 but was going down the best was 3in 5 shot groups I use small primers 4350 and EPS 136 grain bullet and get 2900 fps out of it haven't shot my new barrel at 1000 yet but my friend shoot it at 600 avg 4 target just over 2 in best 1.7 in

I'm relatively new to the cartridge myself. It shoots Berger VLDH 130s great at around 2900 and the 143 Hornady ELDX around 2850 over R19. This rifle has a 25 inch Shilen on a Tikka action. I took a deer yesterday with it and have never had one drop without a twitch until now. I have enjoyed this cartridge very much.
