If you get the chance, try out some Hodgdon Hybrid 100V.Just sell me the rifle and I'll figure it out lol either 4831 and imr 4350 does well the newer powders I have not tried I have a model 70 feather weight.
What are the particulars of your M70? My understanding is they offered them for a short time in the push feeds maybe in the late 80's? I know they made them as a "Shot Show Special" but not a catalog item a few years back, don't remember the year but they were control round feed made in N.C.Just sell me the rifle and I'll figure it out lol either 4831 and imr 4350 does well the newer powders I have not tried I have a model 70 feather weight.
I have quite a bit of experience with the 117 SST. I shoot them with H4350 to fireform my 257 Ackley. I shoot them near near max for a standard Roberts case since I’m blowing the case out for the Ackley anyway. Start around 39gr and work up. You will have no issues with deer using the SST.I got some 117 sst but have not got to play much yet . every use those ?
I’ve shot the SSTs to almost 3100 (3.250” OAL... Wildcat round...) without ill effects. The bullets I bought are also “pulled” so utmost accuracy is not expected, but 2-3” at 400 will do fine for a deer, groundhog, or coyote.Hornady may very well do great in a 257 Roberts at slower speeds?
Another plus for the SSTs for a short action hunting application is that they are flat base bullets, which don’t take up as much powder space. This is a Remington M722 Short Action, using loaded ammunition 2.775" COL. The .257 Roberts uses a 2.233" case in this Short Action giving you 0.505" of seating depth if you stick with the idea of not seating the bullet below the base of the shoulder.
I like the 120gr SPBTEither of those powders under a Speer 120 SPBT should work perfectly. If you can come across some H 100V it would also do well.
There extinct unfortunatelyI like the 120gr SPBT
Are they? That's a shame. I find they shoot well and perform well on game. There extinct unfortunately
I've liked the 117gr BTSP as well.So are the Sierra 12gr HPBT GameKing.
When i see some old stock at any of my local shops, i grab em.
I like anything from 100- 110 or 115, 120 Nosler Partitions over the H-4350 or the IMR 4831 w/CCI 200 primers should help maintain good accuracy, very easy on the shoulder. and effective. I zero in +2 @ 100 yds and are dead on @ 200.I bought a pair of Remington 722 in 257 roberts and am looking for what best in deer loads I live in pa. I have imr 4831 and h 4350 powder to play with.
I like Sierra's myself the GameKings are just that IMO, you simply cant go wrong with Sierra, Have had really good success w/Gameking loadsSo are the Sierra 12gr HPBT GameKing.
