257 Roberts Powder Choice

Speaking of

Speaking of having any luck finding .257 Brass??? Period!!!! Brings to mind a question to ponder,,,,,
Anyone here have any knowledge on what it takes to neck down 7X57 Mauser to .257 Roberts brass???
Ive heard/read on another forum that some casing necks can be swedged and trimmed to do it and it sounds logical since the original parent case is the 7mmX57??? just wonder what all is involved to do it and what tools would be required???

What say ye? Pilgrims!!!
I see that Nosler has their 257 Roberts +P brass available direct from their website.....but wow it's expensive....

Gee Wiz,,, that's higher than giraffe's boo boo, Exactly Why I want to figure out How to swedge/Neck turn the 7X57 mauser brass, I picked up 100 of them for a little over 60.00. I guess we can blame it on "Let's go brandon's" o bummer cloned plan???? go figure that ts over 2.58 each and thats before shipping and taxes,,, which I estimated at another 20.00+ -,,,, your pushing 3.00 per brass,,, sheesh!!! I would by finished ammo and fire form it for future Ackley loading once fired brass before I spend that,,,,

I just run PPU 7X57 brass through a 257 Roberts FL die and trim.
Using that for 257 Roberts & AI.

I’m running my own wildcat (Basically an AI version, kinda-sorta...) cartridge that uses the Bob (duuude from Alabama, here) case as the parent. My fireforming loads are a “book max” charge of H4350 and they shoot astonishingly well. There seem to be too many accounts of guys liking the 4350s, RL17 & 19, H100V, and a couple others I can’t remember. I personally haven’t tried RL17, but there is supposedly an out of character sweet spot with the Mauser case size. The burn rate reportedly matches particularly well for the Bob.

Only three years after your post,,,, what bullet are you shooting?

.257's are great things. However, I can certainly acknowledge if the family isn't willing to go their part (pick up brass) it makes it difficult to continue on that path.

FWIW, one day at the range and I'm shooting my 6.5 Creed. A couple locals are shooting one too. They commented how STOOOPUD it is to pick up brass and reload when you can get such awesome accuracy with Hornady ammo...

Reminds of the joke. There are 10 kinds of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
I hear that a lot about a lot of different cartridges/bullets, etc. Those are usually the guys who change barrels and scopes to try to get their rifle to shoot.

It's been a while since I posted on this thread. Going back, it reminds me of firearms companies that don't seem to have any loyalty to their customers. Like runs of various cartridges that weren't the biggest, yet still sold quite a number of.
.257 Roberts probably tops that list.
.300 Savage annoys the crap outa me as it gets called obsolete, yet I have two and when reload, work well. Better than that "new" .350 legend crap I see all over the shelves.
.25-20, near impossible to find. WCF or SS
.218 Bee, better than any Hornet, yet unobtainium. Maybe this needs it's own thread.
