257 Roberts Ruger number 1 international

Just bought this rifle today.anybody have one and what do you think.and any good starting loads.never had 257 before thanks.steve

I don't have a Roberts anymore, sold mine like a dummy! But I still do reload Roberts shells for a friend of mine and a Winchester model 70. Have always loaded 110 grain Nosler Accu-bond bullets for him and no deer as ever had enough time left to complain.

Great rifle and surely one of the great all time rounds. I would love to find a 1B or 1AB in 257 Bob..... Or possible a cheap (yea, right) #1 to use as a donor and have a
257 Imp barreled up

Today on my Rem Mountain 257 Roberts I shoot 42.5 gr of IMR 4350 with a 115 Nosler BT. It's right at 2800 fps. Killed one big 8 pt at 540 yards with it. DRT.
I have tested to about 2850 fps with no issues. 100 grs. seem to like to be around 2930 fps. with the same IMR 4350.

Now my beautiful Mauser 257 Roberts with raised-solid ribbed barrel likes IMR 4064 and Speer 100 gr. flat base bullets with 42.0 gr.

I have had others but these are the only two now. It's my favorite cartridge and I even have 70 gr. loads to play with varmints with the Rem. Like any rifle, you test and play to find what works for you. The "Bob" is a great cartridge.
