I carry a wind meter but don’t use it much anymore. I just try to take into account all the wind Indicators I have available at the moment. That’s why I like the 30-28/230 for the longer pokes. It gives a lot better margin of error with all the variables on a shot like that.Windypants
What/how do you figure the wind?
Do you use a wind meter that tells you what’s it’s doing right where you’re standing.
But it doesn’t tell you what’s it doing further out or 3 counties over on those long shots

Wow thanks for the report. Im itching and will report my load data soonI’ve taken quite a few more coyotes with this bullet now, and am pretty impressed. To me, the ideal is no exit and they drop in there tracks. That’s what I get with a quartering or facing shot, or broadside through the shoulder. Sometimes they spin but are down before I can send a follow-up. Through the ribs gets a runner, but the massive trauma is pretty visible so I know a follow up isn’t needed. I’ve had a couple of gut shots, and they had so much damage that they just stood there for the follow-up.
This is my longest shot so far (and an extremely lucky wind call). 735 yards with 10pm wind @9:00. Dialed 10.5U, 4.5L. He was sitting quartering to me and collapsed in his tracks, with no blood anywhere on him.

Hornady guys swear 8 twist. But I dont knowWonder if there’s any way a 9 twist will shoot these bullets? Thoughts?
Finally got the 100 grain bullet loaded for the 6.5 Creed. Went with the .020 off and 39.3 grains of H-4895. Book specs came out real close to what I wanted on speed, little Savage sporter barrel averaged 3121 fps on the Garmin. That’s as fast as I want for barrel life, haven’t been to bench yet but shot bagged of of the back of my flatbed and it exploded violently a water bottle at 100+ off my 140 bullet sight in. Now looking for a Wiley.
