2506 and the 115 Berger VLD

Well so far on my prodject I have my Rem cases prepped, I have CCI BR2's in them and they are charged with Retumbo from 58 gr. to 60.5 in .5gr. increments and im hoping for the best. My gun is an old savage tactical that shoots in the low ones and twos depends on me and our wind here in north dakota. Im kind of amazed at the accuracy of this gun when you compare it to the 'Little' guns it compares to. And its been called a names at the range alot til I fill a page with .2 and under groups. And the load that I have done that with is with a 100gr. matchking. So the question stands as, does anyone have real good data for me with the 115gr. VLD and the 2506?

I'm shooting a 25/06 improved. My best load is with RL25 and the Berger 115 VLD. My gun likes the bullet firmly seated into the lands.

Cold,

I have a custom .25-06. Shilen match barrel on a 1903 Springfield action, Canjar trigger, in a rollover cheek piece walnut stock made in the 50's.

Load is 115 Berger VLD in front of 53 grains H-4831 with a Fed- 210m primer. From a 24' tube this load runs 3150 fps with an extreme spread of 14 fps and groups 5 rounds into 1.5' @n 300 yards ! Definitely a good potential long range load. I will test this load @ 600 & 1000 yards in some upcoming F-class matches.

Cold,

Forgot to add that I am seating the 115 Berger VLD 25 Thousandths into the lands. Hope this helps.

The 100gr. matchking has been a real good bullet in my gun for a number of years. I happen to find these VLD's in a store and have never seen them before around here before, so I thought Id try to extend my range some. I dont know if they would even do that its just my thinking. The matchkings go 3350 with 52grs. of IMR4350 and I get into the .2's with it. And with 50grs. of H4350 I'm not sure the fps but i get into the .1's. with my best so far 100yd group .134 center to center.

oh and that matchking load jumps like .020. that savage rifle of mine has a long chamber so those bullets wont make it to the lands and have much left in the case

I have a 1st Gen. Sendero that shoots this bullet into tiny groups @ 100 yds.

Rem. brass
WLR Primer
52.5 gr Re 22
Bullet seated touching the lands.

Does 2' 0r better at 500 yds. Sorry dont remember chrono info off the top of my head.

well i got half an inch at 100 in a hard left to right wind at 59gr. of retumbo ill play with the length a litle more but this looks like my load. my chrono had an accident the year i got divorced so i have no idea how fast, looks like a winner. but i will try H4831 thanks for the help
