2500XR & Lilja @100

Excuse my ignorance, i am still quite new to the precision rimfire game.

Why would the maker of the Stiller action ( an extremely well thought of piece of equipment ) choose to utilize one of the lowest quality magazines on the planet?? i am from Canada and almost bought a complete rifle built by one of the "Optics" companies but changed my mind when I found they utilized savage mags.
If I remember correctly, based on a conversation with Jerry, the XR action was produced to be legal for a Sporter class. It was never intended to be a good repeater, mostly fired single shot. I’m pretty sure that’s what I was told. I like his 2500X but wanted a repeater.

I thought stiller had made one action for sporter class to hold a magazine but not designed to function right bolt left port ? but later came up with one to function right bolt right port like this one ?

I may have the XR and XS mixed up. I owned an XS right bolt left port that he converted to single shot.

Well ! I thought the same thing , but after lots of tweaking and tinkering the factory Savage 10 round mags are very good when you put them in a AICS style magazine and get them set in correct angle the function was bettet that my Vuddoo I had with there factory magazines . The new Style Savage stainless mags are very easy to load and not sticky or weird angles going into chamber . I would buy another before They are gone . I was going to get 40X from PTG but glad I did didn't now . very smooth action !

no ! I have looked at Anschutz Savage mags and would try one but not easy to find and pricey .

With a little file work a Savage mag will fit the Anschutz - but in my experience they are not as dependable - in an Anschutz repeater. Never considered trying the Anschutz mags in a Savage. The Savage Anschutz magazine and any other Anschutz 1710-1712 /54 based rifle is the same.

Ok , I had read somewhere advertised , remove the magwell and use bottom metal , I was skeptical , I like your solution , my oldest stepson has a printer so he can make me a mag body lol ok good to know

I bought one of the euro optics 2500xr builds and had problems with the savage mags .one thing that helped was with time the coating on bolt wore down and The biggest help was C Spec welded mags they absolute fixed any feed issues and no more bullet damage when feeding. New rifle with c spec mags!!!

Went out this morning trying to miss the wind but it was still a little breezy . Shot a gew groups at 50 yards with SK Long Range Match and some 100 yard groups with Center X . The AICS mag with Savage clip conversion feeds so good and smooth with no problems ! I need to build a couple more to have extras .
