25 Creedmoor (Help Please)

I already use H4350 with 4 other rifle's, I'm just finding some other powder's to use. I have plenty to choose from on the shelves, and AA 4350 didn't lag far behind H4350 when I tested it in my 260 and 6.5 CM's from what I remember. It's just too hot here right now to do any more testing.
Yea I’m in NTX and it’s ridiculous. Even in the shade

In Quickload you can use .250 Ack Imp, and you'll get the same results.
Both cases have the same H2O capacity (51gr).
Only difference is 0.008" in case length, COAL and max PSI which all that you can change.
i made a 6.5 250 ackley back in 2007 . you are correct same as 6.5 creed and the 250 ai is about balisticlly the same as 25 creed .

I have one being built at LongRifles currently. That being said, I want to find a good source to do some reloading for thiis round.

Unfortunately, its not in quickload or any of the manuals I have either.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
Did you get your rifle back? Any updates. I think the 25 Creedmoor would be a great cartridge even if you have several other quarter bores laying around. That's beauty of a custom rifle, you can build whatever you want.

I think the 25 CM or 25/260 would be a great build also. Wound up getting excellent accuracy with my 25-284 with the 131 BJ and 133 Bergers at around 2950. One hole groups and was very happy. My thought was, why not build a 25CM if that's the velocity range for accuracy in a much better performing cartridge. My buddy is getting 2875-2900 with his 25CM and close to the same accuracy. Then I realized that 52 grains of powder was very mild for the 284 case. Next day out I shot 53.5-55.0 and was comfortably in the 3200 range with almost as good of accuracy but 250fps+ more velocity and zero pressure. I could run 55 grains with no issues but 54.3 gave me great accuracy. My end result is, the 25CM is plenty of cartridge and if I was willing to settle on 2950 in my 25-284, the CM is a great choice. May be one I build in the future.

Okay, the rifle should be in my hands in about a week. In the meantime, I fully prepped some new Peterson 25 Creedmoor brass. Its probably overkill but I always like to be able to fine tune and measure as much as possible to eliminate as many variables as I can. So I did the following...
  • Turned the necks to 0.015"
  • Annealed using a Giraud Annealer
  • FL resized with a Redding Type S Bushing Die with a .283 Neck Bushing and bumped the shoulders back .0005 so theyre at 1.151"
  • Mandrel expanded the necks to .255"
  • Uniformed the primer pockets
  • Chamferred the primer pockets
  • De-burred the flash holes
  • Chamferred and De-Burred the case necks
  • Finally I started seating primers and those are set at .003 below flush
Now its time for powder and projectile. The dilemma still lies at where I plan to start and how high I plan to go. Initially, I was thinking 40.0grs of H4350 and work up in .03gr increments to 42.7 or 43.0grs (The last two might be on the edge but I have nothing to reference at the moment being there's no manuals and QuickLOAD still doesn't have an update for this caliber yet so if I go there, I'll definitely proceed with extreme caution upon getting close to those last few loads).

I'm curious what y'all have to say about my load development plans. Am I starting too low out of caution or not low enough? Also, How many rounds per load is an acceptable load development? (I was thinking 5 per, unless that's a waste.

Thanks. Not yet, it just arrived at Manners today so he can set the chassis just right. It’ll be headed to me later this week or early the next.

I think your plan for charge weights is sound. My latest build is a 25x47L and I have settled on ~40gr for the slightly smaller case capacity. I don’t know specifically about Peterson brass, but I might start at 39-39.5gr for a CM case just to be sure you don’t have a fast burning lot of powder, or the brass being on the thicker end.

I can help.

What bullet are you shooting?
What is the bullet length?
What powder do you like to use?
What is the water case capacity?
What is the case length?
What is the barrel length?

Similar to my 25X, Use 135 Bergers over Superformance. Determine 100% load by sight (be sure to leave room for boat tail and load long. Start at 90% of determined max and work up slowly.

Well, the rifle is fresh back from Manners ready to shoot. I just gotta pick it up from my FFL when I find time to do so and then it’s figuring out the right load start with. I think I’m pretty darn close right now. QuickLOAD was dramatically lower on pressures than GRT, so I may trust GRT to be on the safe side of things. Figure I’ll probably start right at 38.0grs of H4350 I think. I’m still mulling this over but I’m close to dropping powder and seating projectiles.ABE068B0-4A59-4A04-9255-245617156439.jpeg

I'm thinking the 25-260 your referring to is already called the 25 Souper.
Essentially any of the 308 family necked to 25 caliber.

And it already duplicates close to 25 CM, 250AI, 257 Roberts.

But it's a 25 caliber i don't have, but want. ;)

First of all, a HUGE Thank You goes out to @Beiruty for sharing his data on GRT. I was using QuickLOAD and it had me starting substantially higher on loads. Comparing the two programs, I chose the lower levels of GRT to be on the safe side of things. Thanks again buddy!

Okay.. So I loaded up some rounds today and I’m all ready to do some load development. The consensus of all the data I was able to research tells me to start at 38.0grs of H4350 and work my way up to 38.80grs of H4350. So, I did exactly that.

I loaded up 20rds @ 38.0grs for sighting in my scope and getting the barrel broken in.

Then I loaded up 50rds to do an OCW ladder load development of 5 shots each going from 38.0 to 39.8grs.

I’m going to chrono everything and take lots of notes.

We’ll see what I find out and God willing all goes we’ll and I’m safe..

Yep I've heard it called the Souper
