25 - 47 Lapua

As another long time 25 caliber fan, I am working on a build on the 25x47 Lapua, I have my reamer with a standard throat and thoater in hand and am waiting for a 1:7 twist lilja to arrive. I have some of the Blackjack 131 grain bullets which seem to be pretty consistent and good looking bullets. Can anyone recommend a powder of choice? I am looking at the successful powders being used in the 6 & 6.5's and figure that would be a good start, If anyone has any input please chime in.

Via 25x47, and bullets this heavy, if you have it, don't overlook H100V - 131 Gr. may be enough to get decent pressure/velocity, along with the excellent precision I have experienced with 110 Gr. bullets . . . with 110s, the groups are small, but velocity lacking. In my experience, H-100V seems to like more capacity, and/or, heavier bullets than the H-4831SC. Another good option, presuming you want velocity, is RL-17. Good shootin'! RG

I shot some 88 grn bib Bullets out of my 257 weatherby/ krieger 12 twist and magpro made tiny tiny group. Like in the high zeros. Maybe a fluke maybe not. It usually is in the two's with other bullets/ powder.

41 - 41.2 grain H4350 has become the go-to load for 25x47. Easy peasy and yield 2890-2925 fps. More velocity is attainable but most of these guys are enjoying a ballistic bump for PRS/NRL and this little 41 gr load seems to stack bullets and take no effort to find.

It is going to depend on the throat of your chamber, I have found my 25x47's like a little jump (off the lands by .015 - .020" with 110 Bibb and 115 Berger. Mine are .130" freebore.
