25-06 question

I'm a big fan of my Bobs but if you go to Grafs or another website and look at the number of 6mm and 6.5mm bullets offered vs the 25 caliber it is hard to justify. A 6.5-06 AI sure sounds cool.

Last I heard, RSAUM cases were hard to find.
Has that improved any?

Oh, speaking of hard to find.
Add to the factory cartridges the 25WSSM.
Speed about equivalent to the 25-06 but in a much shorter and fatter case.
I really need to get mine out hunting this year.

Yeah, not as many offerings.
But for some reason the bullets that are available seems to make the 25 caliber kill above what ballistics would suggest.

They run it 2x per year like several other cartridges. I have buddies that buy 800-1000 pieces at a time for shooting F-Class. I buy the 7 PRCW brass and it seems they run it 2x per year.

I'm with you on the killing power of the bigger .25s. Whatever 'je ne sais quoi' they possess, they punch well above their weight class. I've had at least one .25-'06 deer rifle in the safe for the past 50 years, for the simple reason that the darned thing kills like a lightning strike.

I'm no Creed fanboy, but unless you properly twist a 25-06 allowing for the new high BC bullet options, a 25 Creed will out class the good ol' 25-06 with far less powder, noise and recoil. Now I'll completely contradict myself by stating the 257 Wby is still my favorite .25 of all time...even with a 10-twist. Ha! If I were to build a long action rifle with a .473 bolt-face, I'd skip the 25-06 and go with an 8-twist 6-06 all day long.
