243LBC weak ejection

I'm scratching my head on this one! as long as you pull the bolt back slow it will sorta spit the brass out kinda like a little dribble BUT if you work the bolt quickly it just drops off the bolt and you'll have to dig it off the follower.

What I've done so far is put in one of Freds ejectors, stretched the spring on the factory ejector, changed out the extractor for a could different sizes, one from a .473" and the other from a .378" and for the most part can tell no noticeable difference. I did put a .140" bearing but not much difference at all.

Right now this rifle is set up as a single shot but have been considering turning it into a DBM BUT if I can't get the thing to eject the brass can't see a good reason to go repeater! I've heard and read several posts here and there about Savage actions having problems with the shorty brass but have also read plenty of folks with great luck.

Fella's am I just being a goober and overlooking something simple or am I even on the right chapter of the book? I appreciate any direction you can point me! thanks a bunch.

From what I've seen it's coming out of the chamber fine until the neck is free then it falls off, when I work the bolt slowly it will eject. A bit more research I found out that Fred (SSS) offers a PPC extractor I may go ahead and see if I can get one of those headed my way as it couldn't hurt!

try a softer ejector spring or cut some coils off. it sounds like youve tried more pressure sometimes less is better. keep us informed. with so much drama in the LBC its kinda hard being snoop d o double g.

Oh I'm loving this rifle! dang thing is accurate as all get out fire forming brass :-O I'll give a softer spring a try and see what comes from it. I'm running it as single shot and it's not a BIG deal but it sure would be nice to not dig the brass out. First time for me playing with a PPC guess there's a bit of a learning curve to figure out.

I'll let ya know what I come up with.

See if the bevel on the extractor isn’t kicking the brass off the hook. The base of the brass just ahead of the extractor groove may be striking the extractor a bit and kicking it off the bolt rather than acting as a hinge point...basically the extractor is not holding on long enough.

I got with Fred at SSS and I should have one of their PPC kits he soon BUT I'm going to take a look at the extractor a touch better and I hadn't thought about what you posted! thanks for the idea.
