.243AI - Sierra 107gr MK's as hunting bullets?

Just curious if anyone has used the 107 MK's as a hunting bullet? I've got a few hundred moly 107's and a few hundred bare 107's and I wonder if I should even mess around with any load development with them for long range hunting purposes? I have a 28" Criterion bull barrel. Should I just get hold of some 95-105gr hunting style bullets and sell these MK's?

It's never a good idea to use them for hunting purposes, ever Sierra will tell you that.
Sometimes they work great and the next time they pencil right through with out doing much if any damage.. I for one would never rely on them for hunting purposes.....

TRY THE 85GR SIERRA (#1530) BTHP W/45GRS H4350 210M PRIMER MY RIFLE LOVES THOSE THING IT'S 1/8TW 27''

They work fine for me, not second hand info.

my 243 ai loves the 95 berger running 3225 at 200 yards im touching three shots or at least under a dime, they slam steel hard

For what its worth I have always shot the Sierra .308 168-175 SMK as both an accuracy load and a hunting load...albeit against sage and factory advice...I have had nothing but stellar performance...always a one shot, lights out stop...if anything they damage more meat than the hunting bullets as they almost always fragment EXPLOSIVELY with huge wound cavities...head shots on deer inside 200 are devastating to say the least...its been my experience that the fragile nature of the SMK causes them to dump all their energy fast...

The seven culled whitetails I shot in the chest with the 168MK from a 308 are certainly not a 'broad based sample" but they were deader than a tomato stake in a heartbeat. Big hole coming out, three or four hops and a flop.

Best bullet? No, but not to be trifled with either

I traded off my Matchkings for 400 Hornady 105 gr A-Max's and 200 Hornady 105 gr BTHP's. I also have 50 Nosler 95 gr ballistic tips and 50 Nosler 100 gr Partitions to try.

Now I just have to wait for my dies to get here and I can start some load development and see what I can get to shoot the best.
