.243 wssm case ?

I wanted to ask, been wondering, why this case has not been mentioned much in use for benchrest rifle competitions. Is it not accurate case design or what?

The main problem is the brass.....Very thick necks....18-20 thou...I really wish someone...maybe Norma would make brass for it.......There are a few being shot in 1000 yard Br comps that do pretty well

Ed Eckhoff,Sacramento) is shooting a 6.5 Wildcat he calls the "FatCat" using necked-up 25 WSSM brass. Using Vihta N160 and Russian Primers, with Norma 130gr bullets, the accuracy has been outstanding--groups in the ones and zeros at 100 yards.

He did complain to me about the thickness of the necks, but he turns them down to .288",loaded diam.) for a .290" chamber. He's getting nearly 3000 fps from the round with 47+ grains of powder.

I'm not in BR but I put together a 26wssmImp.
I use a .291 chamber neck & turn the brass for .290 OD, loaded. The brass springs back to .289 on firing, so I don't neck size. I shoot WS2 coated Lapua 139s at 3050fps w/47.5 IMR4350/BR2. My ES is ~10fps measured with an Oehler & 20ft screen spacing. So far, I'm very happy with it's performance.
Winchester wssm brass is actually pretty good. But you MUST turn it.

257wssm, lacking bullets, won't work for long range.
I can't picture the 243wssm holding BR accuracy very long. 223wssm...Somebody stop Winchester... They're freakin loosing their minds! Actually, I think someone did stop them..
